Marcus Blake
Biography
Marcus Blake was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1977. He
grew up in Chicago and East Texas. His education is in
History, Literature, Psychology, and Religion &
Philosophy. Marcus Blake has studied at many
universities throughout the United States, but his Alma
Mater is Stephen F. Austin State University in
Nacogdoches, Texas, which is also where he wrote his
first book, The Music of Life. Mr. Blake is a Poet,
Writer, and Historian. His books are The Music of Life,
My Reflections, Returning Home and Sex Game. He has taught in the
public school system, served in the Army, and been a
guest speaker at Education and Literary events
throughout the world. Marcus Blake is now a full time
writer, teacher with over ten years experience, and a lecturer. He makes his home in the
Dallas, Texas.
Marcus Blake is the 2008 American Book Choice for Fiction
Award Winner for his book Returning Home. He is also the
2008 S.T.I.F. Award Winner for his book Sex
Game. The awards are National Literary Awards sponsored by
the National Literary Foundation in Chicago. This award
committee is a national award committee that recognizes the
best in American Literature. Marcus Blake has also been a model, actor, comedian,
journalist, and a professional musician; he writes music and
is an accomplished piano player. He has served as a male
model in advertising literature for universities and
companies selling commercial products as well as a nude
model for Artists. Mr. Blake has been doing this for twelve
years since his first year in college. Marcus Blake’s acting
experience has been on the stage, commercials, and
independent film. Some of his stage work includes
productions of The Ice Man Cometh by Eugene O’Neil,
Oklahoma, and West Side Story. He is also a veteran of the
comedy stage, making debuts at some of the top comedy clubs
in Dallas such as Hyenas and Ad Libb’s as well as the West
End Comedy Theater as a stand up comedian. Marcus Blake
produced, wrote for, and stared in the comedy troupe The
Sideshow Freaks, a professional comedy troupe from Dallas
Texas. The group is now called DCF. They have created a show
called Snipers for Jesus, which Marcus Blake helped write
and produced The show is broadcasted on internet networks
and is available on DVD, DCF does other filming
projects as well. Marcus Blake has also played
professional piano in music halls and music clubs in New
Orleans, Texas, Chicago, and Kansas. He has written,
published, and produced music for stage and film.
Now
Marcus Blake teaches and is the creator of the continuing
education course, The Art of Storytelling. He is also
the co-host of the Dueling Patriots Radio with Clint Stutts
- the show is honest talk about American Politics. You can
listen to Marcus Blake Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm at
www.duelingpatriots.com. Marcus Blake guides and tutors
beginning writers while maintaining an active lecturing
schedule. Mr. Blake is also part owner of The Imagine House
- a learning center in Dallas/Ft. Worth. He teaches Social
Studies and English/Language Arts courses. He also teaches
creative writing. Marcus Blake is very active in the
literary world. Marcus Blake is an author that that writes
not for entertainment, but for the great art of telling a
story. He writes to tell a truth; it’s a truth about the
human condition that comes from the observations made from
everyday life. As he would tell you, writing is his passion,
his career, and his source for inspiration. He travels
throughout the world most of year lecturing, teaching,
acting, and writing. Currently Marcus Blake works as an
actor, model, musician, and writer in Dallas.
