The
Characters from Sex Game |
|
Jack – The Naive |
 |
He
is a lawyer that easily falls into the routine of things
and forgets what it really means to live life. He is
smart and funny, but gets complacent therefore
forgetting a little thing called romance. When his
marriage begins to fail he is doesn’t know it until it’s
too late. Because he is the type of person that gets
complacent easily he will cheat on his wife trying to
feel alive again, trying to feel loved again. He is the
naïve because as smart as he might be, he doesn’t know
when everything in his life is turning bad or that he is
the cause of it for he is the victim of his own demise.
|
|
|
|
Sara – The Perfectionist |
 |
She
is smart and beautiful and needs everything to be just
right. She is romantic and likes to be courted and
romanced. Sara has to be in a relationship – she cannot
stand to be alone and will find a replacement partner
if she thinks she can be happy. Sara is also a little
stubborn and feisty; she knows how to put a man in their
place. She is not to be messed with when it comes to her
own happiness. She cannot stand to be unhappy and is
willing to have an affair if she thinks she can be
happy. She will always be the first one to walk out when
the relationship cannot be fixed and she will also go
through hell If needed be to try and fix a relationship
choosing to do things like counseling if it can save a
marriage. She does all of these things to try and keep
things perfect or the appearance of perfect. Her life
and her relationships have to be perfect for her to be
happy. |
|
|
|
Richard –
The Playboy |
 |
Richard is the happy go
lucky type, always looking for a party and to have a
good time. He loves women and hates being in a
relationship. He is the typical playboy, always on the
prowl for beautiful women. The extent of his
relationships is only for a night. He is smart and witty
and can charm just about any woman. He is the Don
Giovanni archetype – he makes love with lots women out
of fear that he will never be loved by one woman. For
Richard it will take a stubborn woman that can challenge
him in every way for him to fall for one woman and
convince him that he can be loved.
|
|
|
|
Paula –
The Insecure |
 |
Paula is smart, funny,
beautiful, but insecure. She is the type of person that
doesn’t realize what she has. She thinks that she can
never find a normal relationship and that no one will
ever love her. Her belief comes from past relationships
where guys have cheated on her and treated her bad. Most
of the guys she meets are only interested in sex with
her. She is stubborn and picky about guys, but that
doesn’t stop her from getting into bad relationships.
She usually falls for the first guy that really seems to
care about her and this is what leads to her falling for
the wrong guy. It also leads her to do the things that
she never thought she would do – have a relationship
with a married man. She will convince herself that it
could work and that they are really in love. Her
insecurities lead her to do the things that she knows
are wrong and to be scared of the things that she knows
are right such as let herself love the guy that’s
perfect for her. She too, is the victim of her own
demise. |
|
|
|
Mike – The Nerd |
 |
Mike is the nerd, the
one who is more
intelligent than anyone
else and is more
introverted than anyone
else. He does not have a
lot of success with
women or the same level
of experience as Jack,
Jarrod, and especially
Richard. He understands
computers more than
human behavior. The nerd
is a important archetype
because where there are
lacking socially in
human interaction they
understand they
simplicity of human
behavior- more simply
they understand that
there is a right and
wrong to treat people
especially in a
relationship. They do
not see the ambiguity of
human behavior therefore
does not take part in
it. Mike is funny,
he smart, and attractive
in his own way. He is
also completely loyal to
his friends and woman he
loves. The nerd’s
simplistic understanding
of humanity is something
everyone can take a
lesson from because he
does complicate things
therefore reducing the
risk of becoming the
victim of his own
demise.

|
Nicole – The Tragedy
|
 |
There are tragic human
beings, some who become that way not of their own accord
and some that bring it upon themselves through their own
actions. Most often not it’s a combination of both.
Nicole is smart and beautiful, but she has led a very
tragic life from being abused by a drunken father to
falling into the drug scene so she can try and forget
her dismal life. She does things that she knows are
wrong, but convinces herself that it doesn’t matter
because it could never get better or she’ll be dead soon
anyway. Because of these beliefs she keeps doing the
things that can destroy her such as becoming a call
girl, a person who charges for sexual favors. Nicole
serves as example of the choice we have when bad things
happen to us or we are the victim of circumstance – we
may not be able to control what happens, but we do have
a choice on how we deal with it. Nicole is as person
that lets the circumstance dictate her choices and the
outcome of her life therefore becoming a tragedy.

|
Jarrod – The
Do-gooder |
 |
Jarrod is a man of honor, a man of principles. He
believes in right and wrong, he uses this is when it
comes to how one should act in a relationship. Our
actions are either right or wrong when it comes to how a
man should treat a woman. It’s not an accident that this
character is a police officer. He is a romantic in a
sense – he believes when you love you should be totally
committed even at the expense of your own happiness
especially when there is a child involved. This is why
he will stay in a relationship with someone that has a
child, even though it’s not his, and help raise it for
the sake of the child. He is chivalric and does what it
takes to make someone happy especially in a
relationship. He is always trying to do what is right
even if no one can see it. |
|
|
|
Jen – The
Romantic |
|
 |
Jen is type with a good
heart and always believes in the good people can have.
She is trusting when it comes to people and does not
stay bitter long after they have wronged her. She is a
romantic and believes that romance is the most important
extension of love. Love cannot exist without it. Because
of this she does have a fault, she falls for anyone that
acts kind to her and ignores everything else about them
because there was the one act of kindness the made that
person seem good. This is what leads her to stay in an
abusive relationship with someone for years when she
should walk away. It’s doesn’t matter how many times
the boyfriend hits her she will stay because she still
believes that there is good in him. She is a smart
woman, but her blind faith can be her downfall. Being a
romantic is not bad thing, but can sometimes over rule
logic. |
|
|
|
Debbie – The Flirt |
 |
Debbie is the flirt, the
social butterfly. She is beautiful, smart, and witty.
She loves being around people and is very flirtatious.
Now this kind of behavior can lead to bad things like
people being led on for the wrong reasons and the flirt
being put into situations that he or she does not want
to be in. This kind of person is important because
there has to be a social butterfly to keep things
balanced especially when things get bad and there should
always be a person that can bring the fun into any
situation. Debbie serves as the flirt among the
characters because her purpose is to lighten the mood in
any situation and bring out the fun and passion in
anyone.

|
|
|
Sam –
The Fool |
 |
Sam
is the fool. He is the selfish one, the one who does not
care about anyone else but himself. He is foolish
because he does not get that true happiness comes when
you can share your life with some and it’s not all about
your own satisfaction. Happiness can come from making
someone else feel that they are the most important
person in your life, whether it be a loved one or a
friend. The fool is often ruled by anger and can be
abusive. The fool can never see beyond their own
selfishness and when it they are not satisfied that’s
when they can become abusive especially in a
relationship. Sam is the example of the person we should
never want to be and do anything to not become. The fool
is also the type of a person we should never be around.

Trinidad – The Conscious
|
 |
The conscious is our
inner voice that tells us what we need to know. It’s
says out loud what we all know and serves as the voice
of reason, the voice says what is true and right. As far
as characters go the conscious is usually the narrator
or the character that gives out advice and tells the
other characters the right thing to do. Trinidad is that
person. He is the older experienced person whose wisdom
is the narration for the story. This kind of character
is usually the fatherly type who are witty and have a
satirical nature that displays a certain truth that the
other characters need in order to survive. This
characteristic is seen in the older characters and there
is always this archetype within a story. Trinidad is the
one for this story. |
